§ 01 — Who am I?

About me

Jake Mittleman

My name is Jake Mittleman and I’m a junior double-majoring in journalism and political science with experience in reporting, research and newsroom work.

Journalism has been my number one priority for some time now. In high school, I helped launch my school’s first student newspaper, The Quaker. In college, I joined my university’s student paper, where I continued developing as a reporter. The summer before my junior year, I interned at WBRZ and the LSU Communications Department. During the fall semester, I interned with DC Witness, where I covered court cases and assisted with data collection and reporting workflows.

During my most recent semester, I worked on Capitol Hill covering the Colorado delegation for the Durango Herald, focusing on political reporting. During the summer of 2026, I interned at the Providence Eye, a nonprofit newsroom in my hometown, where I supported coverage of city council and mayoral elections and helped organize candidate forum events.

I’m eager to keep building my career in journalism and contribute meaningful reporting on politics and public affairs.
